Man arrested on three outstanding warrants at Casino, NSW

Police have arrested and charged a man wanted on three outstanding warrants in Casino today.

Police will allege in court that on Sunday 9 January 2022, a 36-year-old man entered a residence while armed with a machete and assaulted a 38-year-old woman that he was in a previous relationship with.

The man later fled and allegedly avoided police.

On Wednesday 26 January 2022, police gained entry to unit that the man had been residing in.

Police will allege they located a pistol and other items within the unit. The man, who had been in an upstairs unit in the same apartment block, fled the location.

About 8.50am today (Friday 11 February 2022), officers attached to Richmond Police District, assisted by officers from the Dog Unit and PolAir, conducted an operation to arrest the man.

The man was located hiding in a cupboard in a motel room on Hare Street, Casino. He allegedly tried to push past officers but was subdued and arrested without incident.

He was taken to Lismore Police Station where he was charged with the three outstanding warrants for driving, assault, domestic violence, property, and firearms offences.

The Lismore man was refused bail and appeared in Lismore Local Court today (Friday 11 February 2022) and will next appear in the same court on Monday 28 February 2022.
