Man charged; $1 million cash seized after vehicle stop, NSW

A man’s been charged after Raptor Squad officers seized almost $1 million cash following a vehicle stop in Sydney’s south-west earlier this week.

As part of proactive operations, officers attached to the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad were conducting patrols of the Milperra area and stopped a grey Toyota Hilux on Queens Street at Revesby about 11am on Tuesday (16 August 2022).

After speaking with the driver – a 27-year-old Revesby man – police searched the car and allegedly located around $600,000 cash concealed within bags inside the vehicle.

The man was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station.

Following further inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home on Pivetta Street at Revesby about 2pm that day, seizing a further $350,000, electronic devices, and ammunition.

All seized items will undergo further forensic examination.

The man was subsequently charged with two counts of recklessly deal with proceeds of crime more than $5,000, refused bail, and appeared at Bankstown Local Court yesterday.

He’s next due to appear at the same court on Wednesday 31 August 2022.
