Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man with nearly a dozen firearms offences after 3D-printed guns and ammunition were located in North Melbourne yesterday.
Detectives executed a search warrant at a property on Melrose Street yesterday morning, arresting a 28-year-old man allegedly manufacturing and storing firearms at the residence.
During the search, officers seized:
- two 3D-printed handguns
- 3D-printed ammunition
- an imitation revolver gun
- an imitation long-armed rifle
- a gel blaster assault rifle
- various firearms parts including barrels, stocks, handle and magazine
- two gravity knives
- a laptop allegedly containing blueprints to manufacture firearms
- a 3D printer
The North Melbourne man has been charged with possess imitation firearm (x9) and possess prohibited weapon (x2).
He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 3 September.
