Man charged over allegedly failing to provide care for elderly man – Hornsby

A man has been charged over allegedly failing to provide proper care after an elderly man died on Sydney’s Upper North Shore.

About 9am on Tuesday 31 May 2022, emergency services were called to a home in Frederick Street, Hornsby, following reports a 93-year-old man was found unresponsive after he had suffered serious burns four days earlier.

He was taken to Hornsby Hospital in a critical condition. The man passed away in hospital on Friday 3 June 2022.

Officers from Kuring-Gai Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death under Strike Force Cubes.

Following extensive inquiries, a 65-year-old man was charged with refuse to provide necessities of life endanger life (DV) today (Wednesday 29 March 2023).

He is due to appear before Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday 10 May 2023.
