A man will face court today charged following a Manning/Great Lakes Police District investigation into alleged drug and firearm offences.
In June 2026, detectives established Strike Force Ontar to investigate alleged firearm and drug offences in Taree.
About 7.50am on Friday 12 June 2026, police executed a search warrant at a home on Gwenneth Avenue, Taree.
During the search, police allegedly located and seized a dart gun, gel blaster firearm, LifeCard folding pistol, firearm parts, ammunition, and several small resealable packages that are undergoing further examination.
About 10.15am yesterday (Tuesday 23 June 2025), police attended a motel in Forster where a 28-year-old man was arrested.
He was taken to Forster Police Station where he was charged with six offences,
- Supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis
- Possess unauthorised pistol (two counts)
- Acquire firearm part without authority to do so
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.
The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today (Wednesday 24 June 2026).
Inquiries are continuing under Strike Force Ontar.
