Man charged with break, enter and steal, firearm offences – Tweed/Byron West

A man will face court today after being charged with numerous break, enter and steal offences on commercial properties and firearm offences following a search warrant at a property in the Tweeed Heads area.

In June 2026, officers attached to the Tweed/Byron Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation into an investigation into a series of break and enter offences at a commercial premises at Tweed Heads South, a club house in Tweed Heads West, as well as firearm offences allegedly committed in northern New South Wales and into Queensland.

Following inquiries, at 11.30am yesterday (Thursday 16 July 2026), police executed a search warrant at a unit in Bailey Street, Tweed Heads West.

During the search, police allegedly located and seized stolen property, including football jerseys, two loaded firearms, ammunition and other items suspected to be proceeds of crime linked to other offences throughout the Tweed/Byron area.

Police arrested a 34-year-old man at the unit.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with 11 offences:

  • break, enter and steal (three counts),
  • possess unauthorised prohibited firearm,
  • possess unauthorised prohibited firearm,
  • possess ammunition without a permit,
  • not keep firearm safely – prohibited firearm (two counts),
  • possess unregistered firearm – not pistol (two counts), and
  • goods in custody.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today (Friday 17 July 2026).
