A man has been charged over the alleged fatal stabbing of an elderly woman in Sydney’s east yesterday.
About 5.15pm (Saturday 19 September 2026), emergency services were called to a unit on Chambers Avenue, Bondi Beach, following reports of a stabbing.
Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended and found a 90-year-old woman with significant injuries to her torso.
She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene.
A 47-year-old man – known to the 90-year-old woman – was arrested at the home and taken to Surry Hills Police Station.
Police established a crime scene, and detectives commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, police charged the 47-year-old man with murder (DV).
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 6 today (Sunday 20 September 2026).
