A man has been charged after a woman was allegedly fatally stabbed in the state’s south yesterday.
About 11.45am (Saturday 19 September 2026), emergency services responded to reports that a woman had been stabbed at a home on Ziegler Avenue, Kooringal, a suburb of Wagga Wagga.
NSW Ambulance paramedics and officers from the Riverina Police District attended and performed CPR on a 23-year-old woman; however, she died at the home.
Police were informed a man had left the location prior to the arrival of emergency services.
Another man – aged 18 – was arrested nearby at the scene and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was later released without charge.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
About 8pm yesterday, police arrested a 31-year-old man at a home on Menzies Avenue, Kooringal.
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with murder (DV).
Police will allege in court the 23 and 31-year-olds were in a domestic relationship.
The 31-year-old was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 5 today.
