Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Ballarat this morning (21 July).
Officers were called to a premises on Camp Street after reports of someone trying to break in about 2.15am.
A search of the building was undertaken but police could not locate anyone.
Police exited the building before noticing a man on the roof.
He was informed to come down by officers, before falling off the roof.
The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, however died a short time later.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
The investigation will be overseen by Professional Standards Command as per standard procedure.
