A man will appear in court today after being extradited from Queensland over several alleged indecent assaults of a young boy on the Central Coast.
In August 2018, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation after reports a boy had been indecently assaulted by a man who was known to him.
Following extensive inquires, a 48-year-old man was arrested by officers from the Queensland Police Service’s Child Protection Unit at a home in Waterford West yesterday (Wednesday 13 November 2019).
Detectives travelled to Queensland, where they applied for and were granted the man’s extradition to NSW at Beenleigh Magistrates Court yesterday.
The man was escorted by detectives to Raymond Terrace Police Station today (Thursday 14 November 2019), where he was charged with an outstanding warrant for three counts of indecent assault person under 16 years of age.
Police will allege in court that the man indecently assaulted the boy between 2010 and 2015 when he was aged between five and 10.
He was refused bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court today (Thursday 14 November 2019).
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
