An investigation continues today into the fatality at the Baldwin Ave level crossing on Wednesday afternoon.
A teenage boy died after being struck by a train before 3.30pm on 9 September.
Police are investigating the death on behalf of the Coroner.
Police are not yet able to release information about the boy that died yesterday.
“This is a tragic event for our community, and our thoughts are with his family today who are coming to terms with what has happened. I know the community will have them in their thoughts as well,” Auckland City West Area Commander, Inspector Jacqui Whittaker says.
“We extend our sympathies to the Mount Albert Grammar School community who are grieving. Our School Community Officer is engaged with the school and supporting them.”
Anyone who has not yet spoken to Police, and witnessed yesterday’s event should come forward, Inspector Whittaker says.
“I know there were many students also leaving school for the day that saw what happened. For parents, please ensure you’re in contact with your school and ensure appropriate welfare support is made available for your children.”
