Man faces 13 charges after evading police through Geelong

Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after an alleged extended follow in Geelong yesterday.

Police spotted a Range Rover, believed to be a stolen vehicle, travelling on the Princes Freeway in Williams Landing about 12.10pm.

With assistance from the Air Wing, the vehicle was located in Little River, heading towards Geelong.

The male driver allegedly sped off from officers who attempted to intercept, but the vehicle continued to be monitored, before coming to a stop at a car park on Malop Street.

The car has been identified as a hire vehicle, acquired by fraudulent means.

A 33-year-old Thomson man was arrested a short time later.

He has been charged with:

– failing to stop a vehicle on police request

– reckless conduct endangering serious injury

– driving at dangerous speed

– reckless driving

– driving whilst disqualified

– resist police

– trafficking drugs

– dealing property suspected proceeds of crime

– possessing methamphetamine

– possessing prescription drugs

– possessing prohibited weapon

– handling stolen goods

– refusing to undergo assessment

The 33-year-old man will appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court this morning.
