Man, five camels and dog rescued in Jamieson

A man, five camels and a dog were rescued by police and emergency services after they fell while bushwalking near Jamieson yesterday evening.

It’s understood the 38-year-old man of no-fixed-place of address was bushwalking with five camels and his dog near Ferguson Track about 3pm.

Police have been told the camels lost their footing and fell down a steep embankment, pulling the man and his dog with them.

The man was uninjured and was able to contact emergency services.

Police officers from Search and Rescue, Mansfield and Woods Point, as well as the CFA and SES attended in order to facilitate the high angle rescue.

The man, his dog and all five camels were lifted to safety by about 7pm.

All were uninjured during the incident.

The investigation surrounding the exact circumstances of the incident remains ongoing.
