Man found with critical injuries; man arrested at Wollongong, NSW

A man has been arrested after another man was found with critical injuries in Wollongong this morning.

About 3.45am today (Tuesday 30 August 2022), a 38-year-old man attended Wollongong Police Station and reported to police that an alleged assault had occurred at an apartment building on Market Street, Wollongong.

Officers from Wollongong Police District attended the apartments and located a 47-year-old man in the reception area suffering severe injuries.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wollongong Hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene was established, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.

The younger man was arrested at the police station, where he is assisting police with inquiries.
