Man seriously injured in Footscray hit-run

Two people have been arrested following an alleged hit-run in Footscray last night.

A man walking his dog was waiting at a set of traffic lights when they were struck by a car on Ballarat Road, near Gordon Street, about 8.30pm.

The car has then run into the front of a shop and the four occupants have allegedly run from the scene.

The pedestrian, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and his dog died at the scene.

No one in the shop was injured.

Police have arrested a 48-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, both from Footscray, about 10pm.

They are currently in custody, assisting police with their enquiries.

Police are still searching for the two other occupants.
