Ararat Rural City Council is inviting residents and visitors to view a new outdoor exhibition in the laneway off Barkly Street, curated by Ararat Gallery TAMA.
The exhibition showcases landscape artworks created by Marian College Year 7 students as part of their art studies.
Students explored aerial views of landscapes through block printing, using board and textured card to produce a series of black-and-white prints. Each work was then hand-finished with acrylic markers and soft pastels, creating an individual collection of designs.
Watercolour paintings are also featured, with students continuing their exploration of landscape, colour, texture, and perspective.
Ararat Rural City Council Mayor Cr Bob Sanders said the exhibition was a welcome opportunity to celebrate the work of young local artists in a public setting. “It’s fantastic to see the creativity and effort of Marian College students shared with the wider community,” Mayor Sanders said.
“The artworks show a great deal of imagination, and they give people passing through the Barkly Street area something interesting to stop and have a look at. I encourage residents and visitors to come down to the laneway, take in the exhibition, and support these young artists.”
The exhibition is located in the laneway off Barkly Street, Ararat, and is free to view.
Ararat Gallery TAMA curated the display as part of its ongoing work to support local creativity and provide opportunities for community groups, schools, and artists to exhibit their work.
