Mass Outback Rain Dance Brings Rain to QLD

Shitbox Rally

The small town of Jundah in the Barcoo Shire of central Queensland hadn’t seen rain for up to 8 months and is officially ‘drought declared’. On Thursday 24th October, 550 people participating in the charity car event, Shitbox Rally 2019 Spring were travelling through the area and organised a ‘Rally Rain Dance’ in an attempt to bring some much needed relief to the area.

And guess what – it worked! In the last 24 hours areas in Central QLD have received up to 50 millimetres of rain!

The charity car rally left Melbourne on October 19 and arrived in Townsville seven days later (on October 25) with participants driving over 3600kms, all in the name of raising money for Cancer Council. The Spring rally has raised a massive $2.3 million, with overall fundraising for Box Rallies in the last 10 years up to $21.65 million.
