Master plan fails to fix Tasmania’s health crisis

· Royal master plan fails to address immediate issues in Tasmania’s health system

· No measures to address $100 million health black hole

The Liberal Government’s long-awaited release of the Royal Hobart Hospital master plan fails to address the immediate issues facing Tasmania’s health system.

Shadow Health Minister, Sarah Lovell, said today’s announcement doesn’t address the $100 million black hole in the health sector or the Government’s failure to offer public sector workers a fair pay deal.

“No amount of planning will resolve the current issues facing Tasmania’s health sector,” Ms Lovell said.

“Tasmania’s health system needs an urgent injection of funding now and not in 30 years.

“We have some serious concerns around funding and timeframes as I understand the funding announced today doesn’t complete stage two.

“Stage three also still remains unfunded and we are yet to see a timeline for works.”
