  • Conference to be held December 7 and 8, 2022 at Bendat Centre
  • The Department of Communities will again be a sponsor of People with Disabilities WA (PWdWA) State Conference 2022.

The State Conference 2022 will be held on December 7 and 8 at the Bendat Centre in Wembley.

Disability Services Minister Don Punch said the State Conference for 2022 would follow on from the success of PWdWA’s inaugural State Conference held in 2020.

The event will be led exclusively by people with lived experience of disability, mental health issues and neurological difference.

The theme for the State Conference 2022 will be ‘Inclusive Communities’, with a focus on developing and strengthening the agency and capabilities of people with disability.

The conference will provide a platform for addressing contemporary and emerging issues, and a forum for exchanging ideas and collaboration.

It will also provide opportunities to share disability information and for people with disabilities to share their lived experiences. It will also be an opportunity to showcase and share resources and interests among organisational and peer leaders.

More information, including on how to register to attend the conference, is available here.

As stated by Disability Services Minister Don Punch:

“The People with Disabilities WA State Conference 2022 will raise the profile of disability issues and promote positive attitudes to disability.

“Led exclusively by people with disabilities, the conference is unique in its focus on the perspectives, voices and input of people with disabilities.

“I look forward to seeing State Conference 2022 again serve as a gathering point for people who identify as having disability or a mental health issue, their carers, family and friends, service providers, community sector professionals, educators, health workers and the wider community.”
