The Miles Government is putting the pedal to the metal with a three-year extension of its support for the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 and NTI Townsville 500, ensuring these premier events stay in the fast lane on the Repco Supercars Championship calendar until at least the end of 2027.

The agreement guarantees that Surfers Paradise and Townsville will continue to host these iconic motorsport events, which attract thousands of visitors and provide significant economic benefits for the state.

The Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland has invested in Supercars 500 events in the Gold Coast and Townsville since 2010 and look forward to working closely with Experience Gold Coast and the Townsville City Council for the next three years.

The 2024 Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 is set to hit the streets of Surfers Paradise from October 25-27 with the 2025 dates for both destinations to be announced in early October.

As stated by Premier Steven Miles:

“This is a huge win for motorsports fans and a huge win for the visitor economy.

“These events will deliver more than 280,000 visitor nights and inject approximately $100 million into Queensland’s economy for each year of this extended deal.

“These Supercars events are some of the biggest events on the Queensland calendar bringing visitors to the host destinations from far and wide.

“I am committed to keeping Queensland on the grid with world-class events that benefit our communities and drive significant economic returns.”

As stated by Minister for Tourism and Sport Michael Healy:

“Supercars events draw huge crowds to Queensland, accelerating tourism and supporting local businesses.

“Through our partnerships with Supercars and local stakeholders, we are ensuring these events continue to generate high-octane returns for our state.

“I look forward to keeping these engines running hot for another three years.”

As stated by Gold Coast-based Minister Meaghan Scanlon:

“This announcement puts the Gold Coast and local race fans in poll position.

“Gold Coasters and people right around the country love their supercars – and this agreement makes sure this event and its iconic backdrop remain on the race calendar for years to come.

“It’s great not only for local fans who flock to the event each year, but also for our tourism operators, bars and restaurants who host the thousands of fans who visit from all parts of the world.”

As stated by Minister for Resources and Critical Minerals and Member for Townsville Scott Stewart:

“Securing the NTI Townsville 500 for another three years is fuel in the tank for our city.

“This event brings visitors, boosts our economy, and puts Townsville on the national track.

As stated by Acting Gold Coast Mayor Donna Gates:

“This is a fantastic day for our city, securing this iconic event for another three years.

“I applaud Supercars, Experience Gold Coast, and the Queensland Government for making this happen.

“Not only does the event attract tens of thousands of visitors to the Coast, but it also showcases our city to millions of race fans globally. Drivers, start your engines for 2025 and beyond.”

As stated by Supercars CEO, Shane Howard:

I want to extend my thanks to Premier Steven Miles, Minister Michael Healy, and the Gold Coast and Townsville City Councils for their unwavering support of two of Queensland’s largest sporting events.

“These events not only bring significant tourism and economic benefits but also create local jobs and showcase Queensland to a vast television audience, both in Australia and abroad. They’ve been incredibly successful by all measures.

“Our teams, drivers, and fans love these events, and we’re excited to have them locked in as core parts of our calendar for the years ahead. We’re eagerly looking forward to the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 in just over a month.”

As stated by Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Patricia O’Callaghan:

“Supercars events are renowned for drawing strong crowds and extending our support of the events until 2027 is a milestone worth celebrating as we build on the value of our $850 million 2024 Queensland events calendar.
