More Clubs Score World Game Goals

VIC Premier

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today announced seven projects would benefit from a share in more than $2.6 million from the latest round of the Labor Government’s World Game Facilities Fund.

The Minister visited Monterey Park, home of Frankston Pines Soccer Club, to announce that $315,000 will be provided to deliver lighting upgrades at the reserve.

Since 2018, the Fund has invested more than $19.3 million into 65 game-changing infrastructure projects worth almost $70 million across Victoria.

The Fund provides grants of up to $500,000 to Local Government Authorities and Alpine Resort Boards to deliver lighting, better turf and synthetic pitches, and female friendly change rooms.

Interest in soccer is already at record levels and is expected to jump further with the Socceroos qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar and Australia co-hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023.

The Government is ensuring more grassroots football clubs have the facilities they need to cater for this growing demand.

The funding is part of more than $1.6 billion invested by the Government in community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014.
