More predictable political palaver from Labor

Elise Archer, Leader of the House

As I predicted on Sunday, we have been subjected to yet another week of our political opponents misusing the Parliament, with more pathetic stunts and political games preventing us from debating critical government business and Bills.

Attorney-General and Leader of the House, Elise Archer, said Tasmanians deserve certainty and a Parliament focused on doing what matters.

“Instead, what they have got is an Opposition spending valuable Parliamentary time on mistruths, and waste of time motions at every step of the way,” the Attorney-General said.

“In their relentless campaign of negativity, Labor continues to bemoan our Government’s efforts which have secured the State’s energy future by working with the Federal Labor Government to progress Marinus.

“We have been legally transparent about this project at each and every step of the way, but if the Opposition still can’t understand this and the benefits of transformational infrastructure, I’d suggest they speak to their Federal colleague, Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen.

“He has spent the last week espousing the virtues of Marinus, so maybe it’s time for State Labor to pick up the phone to Mr Bowen and get on board.

“They are so far out of step with the rest of the country when it comes to energy, renewables and jobs – it’s no wonder Tasmanian Labor remains in administration.”

It is the Rockliff Liberal Government which is focused on doing what matters for all Tasmanians. The Tasmanian community is justifiably tired of these silly political games which do nothing but hold up the passing of important legislation that needs to go to the Legislative Council.
