MidCoast kids are in for a treat as four more playground makeovers begin in August.
MidCoast Council will remove aged equipment and install brand new equipment at:
- John Debert Park, Smiths Lake;
- Majorie Debert Park, Forster;
- Lansdowne Recreation Reserve;
- King George V Park, Gloucester.
Providing natural or structured shade over the equipment and improving access for all users is a focus for the upgrades, according to Council’s Community Assets Manager, Rhett Pattison.
“Some of these playgrounds are also receiving upgrades to seating, landscaping, pathways and drainage,” said Mr Pattison.
“These sites will be closed for the upgrades, so you may need to visit another play space during this time.”
Works should finish in October, weather permitting.
A review of MidCoast playgrounds identified low-use playgrounds with failing equipment. Play equipment at Hay Street, Gloucester and Kings Creek Reserve, Krambach, will be removed, supporting improvements to other nearby parks.
These projects are funded by MidCoast Council with two supported by the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Infrastructure Program.
Across the MidCoast, Council maintains and improves 83 playgrounds.
