Mornington Community House relocation full steam ahead

The highly anticipated relocation of the Mornington Community House to Wilsons Road in Mornington continues full steam ahead with the new carpark recently completed, the main slab being poured, and framing being constructed.

The project is funded by Mornington Peninsula Shire ($2.55M), with support through the State Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund ($2.05M), to assist in social connections offering activities and programs at the new space for the Mornington Community House.

The new Mornington Community House precinct will be shared by the Peninsula Community Theatre, ‘The Corner’ Youth Centre, Mornington Men’s Shed and RPPFM local radio station.

The new Mornington Community House facility will feature:

  • A dedicated art room
  • IT learning space
  • Playgroup area
  • Multiple flexible meeting and activity rooms
  • Administrative offices and storage space
  • Two consulting rooms
  • Central community kitchen with space for socialising, building social connections, commercial kitchen and external deck.
  • New accessible toilet facilities
  • Upgraded lighting and solar power connection
  • Refurbishment works to the existing hall.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor and Briars Councillor Sam Hearn said “the Mornington Community House provides vital services for our community. It is fantastic to see this relocation in full swing”.

Briars Ward Councillor Bev Colomb said “it is fantastic to see the new Mornington Community House start to take shape. It is going to be wonderful to have all these services in the one precinct. With the new carpark completed and the frames starting to define the new facility and its rooms and areas, the anticipation levels are growing!”

Briars Ward Councillor Rosie Clark said “we would like to acknowledge the support of RPPFM, Mornington Men’s Shed and the Shire’s Youth Service team at The Corner who have worked in cooperation with the construction team to allow the construction to continue so seamlessly”.
