Motocross To Bring 3000 Visitors This Weekend

The engines are revving, the dirt is flying, and the adrenaline is palpable as the 2024 Penrite ProMX Championship descends upon the Wimmera.

This weekend, motocross enthusiasts and spectators alike will witness heart-pounding races, daring jumps, and fierce competition at the Horsham Motocross Complex.

But this event isn’t just about thrilling stunts and high-speed action – it’s also a significant boost for the local economy and a testament to the hard work of the Horsham Motorcycle Club.

Tourism Dollars

The roar of engines brings with it a surge of 3000 visitors to Horsham. Motocross fans from across the nation will flock to witness the best riders battle it out on the challenging 1.7-kilometer track.

These visitors need accommodation, meals, and entertainment, injecting much-needed revenue into local businesses. Hotels, restaurants, cafes, and shops will see increased foot traffic, benefiting the entire community.

Showcasing Horsham

Hosting a national-level motocross event puts Horsham on the map. As riders and their teams arrive, they’ll explore the city, dine at local eateries, and experience the warm hospitality of the Wimmera region.

The exposure gained from this championship resonates far beyond the event itself. It’s an opportunity for Horsham to shine, attracting future tourists, investors, and potential residents.

Infrastructure Upgrades

The ProMX Championship demands top-notch facilities. Horsham’s motocross track has undergone continuous improvements, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Horsham Motorcycle Club. The quality of the track, support facilities, and the state-of-the-art in-ground watering system all contribute to its gold standard status.

These upgrades not only benefit the championship but also enhance the overall appeal of Horsham as a destination for sports enthusiasts.

Hosting rights

Horsham Rural City Council secured hosting rights for the event last year.

Motorcycling Australia Chief Executive Peter Doyle said the announcement last November was not only a nod to the superb spectator, competitor and administrative facilities at the Wimmera complex but also to the challenging 1.7km layout, complete with a state-of-the-art in-ground watering system.

“I am thrilled that ProMX is making its first visit to Horsham. The town and its environs have always been huge motocross supporters, and I know the event will not only be superbly executed but the spectators will come out in their masses to support the event,” he said.

“The 2018 world junior motocross title was a real showcase for what Horsham can deliver, and the new association with ProMX is another feather in its cap.

“Delivering such amazing events doesn’t happen in a vacuum, however, and the support from the Horsham Rural City Council will help us to deliver a truly magnificent event,” Mr Doyle said.

Whether you’re a die-hard motocross fan or a curious spectator, this weekend promises excitement and a taste of what Horsham has to offer visitors.
