Motorcyclist charged after pursuit in Eastern Creek

A man has been charged after an alleged police pursuit in Sydney’s west yesterday.

About 8.35pm (Monday 13 April 2020), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command observed a motorcycle allegedly travelling at more than 140km/h in a 100km/h zone on the M4 Motorway at Eastern Creek.

The rider allegedly failed to stop for police and a pursuit was initiated, with the Yamaha R6 allegedly reaching speeds of up to 160km/h.

The pursuit was terminated when the rider turned into a park at Broomfield Street, Prospect.

Officers located the motorcycle in the park and began a search of the area, with assistance from the Dog Squad.

The 52-year-old rider was found after allegedly breaking into a nearby property and hiding in the garage.

He was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station, where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, and enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

He has been refused bail to appear before Paramatta local court today (Tuesday 14 April 2020).
