Orange City Council is warning motorists about the wet conditions expected this week.
Showers are expected to start on Wednesday and last until Sunday. From 15mm and up to 35mm is expected to fall each day, with the heaviest falls expected Friday.
Orange Mayor Cr Jason Hamling is warning residents and motorist to avoid unnecessary travel and drive carefully on the road.
Recent example of a car driving around road closed signs and through flood water at Bulgas Road.
”We have seen roads right across the region impacted by flash flooding in similar wet weather. Motorists need to take as much care as possible in these dangerous driving conditions.” Cr Hamling said.
”I would recommend avoiding unnecessary travel if you can. If not possible, make sure to check the live road conditions before leaving. Never drive through floodwaters.”
Due to these wet conditions there will be road damage and new potholes will appear.
“We have tasked extra staff to meet the demands and we will be looking at additional funds as well,” Cr Hamling said
“Every Council on the east coast is facing the same issues and I just urge people to drive to the conditions.”
