Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision which occurred in Mount Helen earlier this morning.
Emergency services were called to Gear Avenue about 3.10am after reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.
On attendance police found a man, believed to be in his 30s, with critical injuries.
First aid was provided but the man died at the scene.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is currently assisting police.
The investigation is ongoing.
