Mount Lindesay and Palen Creek part of Mount Barney fire bushfire

Bushfire warning level: ADVICE

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire in Mount Lindesay and Palen Creek.

You need to keep up to date and decide what actions you will take if the situation changes.

Currently as at 4.35pm Friday 29 November, a bushfire is currently burning in inaccessible land within the Mount Barney National Park.

The fire is burning within containment lines. QFES crews will continue to strengthen containment lines over the coming days.

This is part of a larger fire burning on multiple fronts within the Mount Barney National Park.

The Mount Barney National Park remains closed to the public until further notice. For more information visit: https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/park-alerts/

Traffic restrictions are in place on Hardgrave Road and Old Mount Lindesay Road, Mount Lindesay. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions as there may be hazards, such as fallen trees, as a result of this fire.

The Mount Lindesay Highway remains closed from Woodenbong in New South Wales to south of Rathdowney. The Rathdowney township is unaffected by road closures at this time. For more information on road conditions, visit: https://qldtraffic.qld.gov.au/

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.

Properties are not under direct threat at this time. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat.
