National Farmers Federation acknowledges Australia’s enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution under Paris Agreement

The National Farmers’ Federation Acting CEO Ash Salardini has acknowledged the new Federal Government’s commitment to enhance Australia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement.

The Albanese Government announced today the official raising of Australia’s 2030 emissions reduction target from 26-28% to 43%.

The updated 2030 target is a 15 per cent increase on Australia’s previous 2030 target. Both targets are economy-wide emissions reduction commitments, covering all sectors and gases included in Australia’s national inventory.

The NFF notes this presents both risks and opportunities for Australian agriculture.

Following this announcement, the NFF acknowledges the need to develop options for independent advice, and leaps in innovation and technology, such as feed supplements for livestock and fertiliser coating. This is critical to ensure farmers can make informed decisions regarding their business.
