And it is all about this very large high pressure system over south-eastern Australia that’s going to bring warm, dry and sunny conditions to pretty much much of the country, with the only wet weather just being some coastal showers along the New South Wales coast from around Sydney to the Queensland border, and also some showers and thunderstorms developing through inland WA with an inland trough there. Otherwise you can see all dry and sunny for many areas, maybe just a few coastal showers about exposed areas of northern Queensland. Let’s have a look at all of this in more detail.
Firstly, in Queensland you can see the Sunshine State living up to its name, with sunshine right across the state and pretty warm in the west. We can see temperatures there in the mid to high 30s, getting into the low 30s through inland areas and then the high 20s for our coastal plain, with fine and partly cloudy conditions statewide with lots of sunshine. The only weather maybe will be some showers around coastal areas of the south-east later in the day, but also up around our exposed coastal areas around the north tropical coast. Otherwise a warm and sunny one for many. Brisbane looking at 28 °C and partly cloudy conditions.
Moving down into New South Wales. We can see those showers I mentioned earlier through the central Hunter, mid north and Northern Rivers coastal areas during the morning, afternoon and evening, but they’ll clear around by nighttime. Elsewhere, though, we’re going to stay dry, warm and sunny for many areas. Temperatures in the low 30s across northern areas, get into the low 20s in the south-west and south, and also along our coastal areas as well. Sydney looking at cooler conditions and 19 °C with a few showers. After a very warm one on Monday.
Canberra also much cooler, 16 °C with a cool start with a fair bit of cloud around.
Moving down into Victoria, we can see high pressure dominating weather there. So after a cold and frosty start, particularly for some of our inland areas through central and western parts of the state, could see the odd fog patch as well in some of our valleys. It’s going to warm up to a dry, clear and mostly sunny day for many areas. Temperatures pretty much in the mid to high teens in the south, high teens to 20 °C as you get towards the Murray. Melbourne looking at a cool start around 6 °C. Could drop for 3 °C or 4 °C in the suburbs and then warming up to a sunny 17 °C.
Moving down into Tasmania. High pressure also dominating there. Maybe just a few showers early on in the far south, but otherwise a dry and partly cloudy day right across the state. Temperatures in the low teens in the west and north, mid to high teens through eastern areas of Tasmania and staying dry as well with light winds, 17 °C and partly cloudy in Hobart.
Moving up into South Australia and sunshine is the main story right across the state, from south to north and everywhere in between. Temperatures in the low to mid teens are, sorry, in the high teens to low 20s I should say in the south, getting up into the high 20s to low 30s in the north with lots of sunshine. A cool start and then a sunny day in Adelaide, 21 °C.
Moving over into WA and that inland trough I mentioned earlier. It’s going to deepen during the day on Tuesday and it’s going to bring showers, thunderstorms and patchy rain to the inland areas, mostly probably east of the Wheatbelt as well, while further west along our west coast we’re going to stay dry and partly cloudy conditions there. Generally temperatures in the low 20s through the south-west, getting into the mid to high 20s further east and north, and then getting up into the high 30s, sorry, mid 30s through northern parts of the Pilbara. Perth looking at a partly cloudy day and 22 °C.
Finally moving up into the Northern Territory. And we’re going to see dry and sunny weather for many areas. Temperatures in the low 30s in the south, mid 30s to the central parts of the NT, and mid to high 30s in parts of the Top End and also across in the Kimberley as well. Staying fairly dry, maybe just the odd coastal shower here or there, but really many of us are going to stay dry and warm and humidity really increasing for our coastal areas as well. Across northern Australia, Darwin looking at 33 °C and mostly sunny skies.
