National Wool Museum champions sustainable fashion during Geelong Design Week

Geelong residents and visitors alike can discover the power of slow fashion through frantic making and rapid design by attending Fashion Disrupted at the National Wool Museum during Geelong Design Week.

Showcasing just how fashion is full of contradictions and challenges, activities during the weekend reveal how an industry based on consumption, conformity and aspiration can at the same time be sustainable, radical, and inclusive.

Community members are invited to delve into these grey areas by joining fashion disruptors to explore the power of creativity, design, and sustainable style over five days from October 20-24.

The Museum is hosting a series of activities during Geelong Design Week with free entry on 21-22 October 2023 between 10:00am and 5:00pm:

Mayor Trent Sullivan

I urge residents to consider visiting the National Wool Museum programs exhibitions.

The exhibitions showcase some wonderfully creative work generated by fashion designers from across our region and beyond.

There are some great opportunities to gain an up-close and personal experience of a really diverse creative space.

Fashion Disrupted showcases the amazing resourcefulness and creative talents of our fashion designers, especially those based in Geelong and the region; I encourage everyone to visit the National Wool Museum – your museum – during Design Week 2023.

Councillor Melissa Cadwell – Creativity and Culture portfolio chair

These programs, Fashion Disrupted in particular, really showcase the amazing resourcefulness and creative talents of our fashion designers.

Greater Geelong residents should come to the National Wool Museum and witness these outstanding exhibitions for themselves.

Padraic Fisher – National Wool Museum Director

I join Mayor Sullivan in inviting residents to visit the Museum.

I’ve often said that as A Museum of, and for Geelong, we are committed to encouraging creativity.
