New appointment to NAIF board

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Australian Government has appointed Ms Vanessa Elliott to the board of the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) until 30 June 2026.

Ms Elliott is a Jaru woman from the Kimberley region of Western Australia, with cultural connections to the central and western desert.

Ms Elliot brings extensive experience in mining, energy and primary industries as a government and community relations lead, and as an independent consultant.

NAIF is a development financier that provides financial assistance to infrastructure projects in northern Australia to drive public benefit, economic and population growth, and materially improve the lives of First Nations people.

Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Madeleine King said the appointment would further enhance the capability and depth of experience of the NAIF board.

“Ms Elliott has more than 20 years’ experience in economic development, community services, regional and remote project management, town planning, and service commissioning,” Minister King said.

“This skillset will bring a valuable lens to the NAIF Board and the decisions it makes in continuing to develop sustainable and prosperous industries in Northern Australia.

“Ms Elliott also brings significant experience in the field of Indigenous economic development – a key priority for the Government as we work to refresh our northern Australia agenda.

“I am confident the board will continue to collaborate closely with state and territory governments on delivering economic development and supporting increased private sector investment in our north.”
