New Appointment To Supreme Court Of Victoria

The Victorian Government today appointed Ms Fiona Steffensen – an Associate Judge and Senior Master – to the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Ms Steffensen has more than 19 years experience in practising law, specialising in commercial litigation and complex financial and insolvency matters.

Ms Steffensen has served as a Judicial Registrar of the Supreme Court of Victoria since 2020 where she conducted judicial mediations and specialised in the Coporations Act jurisdiction.

Ms Stefffensen was a principal of Lipman Karas from 2012 in Adelaide and Hong Kong and held a leadership position in the oversight and management of the firm, in particular its Hong Kong office, whilst also litigating large commercial and insolvency disputes.

Ms Steffensen commenced her career with Kelly & Co Lawyers in 2002 where she was appointed a Partner in 2010.

Ms Steffensen was admitted to practise in South Australia in 2003, the High and Federal Courts of Australia in 2005, and Hong Kong in 2014. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide.

Ms Steffenen’s appointment will commence on 12 April 2022 and she will succeed Associate Judge John Efthim following his recent retirement and appointment as a reserve Associate Judge of the Supreme Court.
