The Albanese Labor Government has appointed seven directors to the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Board.
Appointed GRDC Board Directors are:
- Mr Shaun Coffey (reappointment)
- Mr Andrew Earle (reappointment)
- Ms Natalie Sommerville (reappointment)
- Ms Belinda Turner (reappointment)
- Mr John Bennett
- Mr Robert Hulme
- Mr Brian McAlpine
The appointed directors bring a diverse mix of skills, industry knowledge and governance experience that will support the GRDC Board’s important work investing in grains research, development and extension.
Australia’s grains industry is a major contributor to the national economy, with the gross value of wheat, barley, sorghum and oilseed production forecast to reach around $21.2 billion in 2026-27.
The Government will continue working closely with the GRDC Board and grain growers to invest in research, development and extension.
This partnership will boost productivity, build resilience and support a sustainable grains industry that benefits growers, regional communities and the Australian economy.
The directors have been appointed for a three-year term on a part-time basis from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2029.
