The Albanese Labor Government has appointed six directors to the Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) Board.
Appointed CRDC Board Directors are:
- Mr Bernard George (reappointment)
- Ms Sally Morgan (reappointment)
- Mr Nigel Burnett
- Dr Alexandra Lobb
- Dr Rebecca Thistlethwaite
- Mr Andrew Watson
The appointed directors bring a diverse mix of skills, industry knowledge and governance experience that will support the CRDC Board’s important work in cotton research, development and extension.
Cotton is a major contributor to the nation’s economy with the value of exported cotton expected to be around $2.9 billion in 2026-27.
The Albanese Labor Government is committed to backing the cotton industry and works closely with the CRDC Board and cotton growers to invest in research, development and extension projects to build a resilient, competitive and sustainable cotton industry that benefits growers, regional communities and the Australian economy.
The directors have been appointed for a three-year term on a part-time basis from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2029. Among the four directors appointed, there are two reappointments.
