New boardwalk for Milkshake Hills Regional Reserve

Roger Jaensch,Minister for Environment and Parks

A new accessible boardwalk at Milkshake Hills Regional Reserve will soon be constructed, providing an improved visitor experience while supporting local jobs.

The $67,000 project to upgrade the boardwalk forms part of the Government’s $500,000 election commitment to improve visitor facilities on the Tarkine Drive and will ensure the area can be enjoyed by the local community and visitors for years to come.

Importantly, the project will support local jobs and our economy, with local company Phil Templeton Building to undertake the works to replace the degraded timber boardwalk on the Forest Loop Track.

These works will complement other infrastructure projects the government has undertaken in the area, including a new picnic shelter with barbecue facilities, upgrades to the Milkshake Hills Summit Track, and new public amenities and roadworks.

Work is also currently underway on the construction of new interpretation signage at Milkshake Hills which will help visitors not only navigate the reserve but understand the important local heritage of the area.

The works are expected to start in August and will take about three weeks to complete.
