New Building Industry Consultative Council Chairperson

Ms Casson is the first woman to be appointed to lead the BICC.

Made up of employees, industry associations, unions and government, the BICC was established in 2001 as a high-level advisory council to the Minister for Industrial Relations. BICC advises the Minister on economic and industrial relations issues affecting the building and construction industry.

BICC also engages with government agencies about the skill requirements and training needs of the building and construction industry and worked with the Government to develop the Building Equality Policy launched in December last year.

Ms Casson brings to her appointment diverse experience and a nuanced understanding of the issues that businesses in the building and construction industry face.

Ms Casson was a diligent advocate for her members and the broader building and construction industry during the challenges of the pandemic.
