Netball Queensland hail the success of last year's First Nations Round when the Deadly Choices kids played at half time

  • The 2023 Palaszczuk Government’s Celebrating Reconciliation Grants program has funded 39 recipients from across Queensland.
  • The program provides $113,824 in grants for local events during National Reconciliation Week.

Netball Queensland, the Titans and Cowboys NRL clubs, and UMI Arts are among 39 Celebrating Reconciliation Grant recipients funded to host events during National Reconciliation Week 2023 (27 May to 3 June).

Events include breakfasts, BBQs, concerts, and festivals to promote understanding, respect and reconciliation between Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous peoples of Queensland.

“Reconciliation is at the heart of Queensland’s Path to Treaty, one of the strongest reconciliation actions in our state’s history.

“The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2023 is Be a Voice for Generations.

“Elders morning teas, yarning circles, outdoor film screenings, cultural programs, truth telling events, country music and art shows are among the events funded for this year’s National Reconciliation week,” he said.

“It encourages all members of the community to advocate for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise.
