The Dalyellup community came together over the weekend to celebrate the official opening of the new Dalyellup Library and Youth Hub.

The Cook Labor Government invested $10.9 million towards the $13.86 million project, delivering a modern, accessible space for people across Dalyellup and the wider South West.

The new hub includes:

  • a multifunctional library and technology lounge;
  • a youth hub where young people could connect and create;
  • a digital makerspace with a 3D printer, podcast studio, and recording facilities;
  • a computer lab providing access to gaming, technology, study, and jobseeking resources;
  • shared meeting rooms and studios;
  • a commercial kitchen for catering, cooking classes, and nutrition workshops; and
  • an onsite caf.

A range of after-school programs for children and young people aged 10 to 17 will begin at the youth hub from Term 3.

The facility was designed and named with input from the local community to support learning, creativity, wellbeing, and community connection.

Emerging Noongar artists Coby Khan and Issabelle Riley were commissioned to create artwork for the new facility. Their work featured throughout the building, including on partitions, windows, and the library workroom wall.

The hub will deliver lasting benefits for the community, giving people more opportunities to learn new skills, access technology, and take part in community activities.

As stated by Acting Sport and Recreation Minister John Carey:

“This new facility will give the Dalyellup community a place to get involved, learn new skills, and connect with others.

“The Cook Labor Government is investing in modern, accessible spaces that bring the community together.

“I’m looking forward to seeing people of all ages enjoy this facility for many years to come.”

As stated by Bunbury MLA Don Punch:

“It’s fantastic to see this outstanding new community hub open its doors to the people of Dalyellup, Bunbury, and the wider South West community.

“I’m proud to see our government working alongside the Shire of Capel and Lotterywest to deliver a facility that reflects the aspirations of our growing community.

“As Dalyellup continues to grow, it’s important that local families have access to quality spaces where they can upskill, create, and connect.”
