City of Darwin is committed to taking care of Darwin’s natural environment and changing climate, and has introduced a new grant program that is focussed on climate change and environmental research.
The new Climate Change and Environment Research Grants provide funding between $5,000 and $50,000 for research that directly benefits the Darwin community.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said that climate change and environmental issues are a top priority for Council.
“These new grants have been established to support research projects that will help to manage climate change and environmental impacts on our community and surrounds now and into the future.
“Applicants will have to demonstrate how their research will benefit the Darwin community in delivering outcomes related to a number of key areas. I encourage people to put on their thinking caps, be innovative and forward-thinking,” said the Lord Mayor.
Key areas to consider in your application, include:
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation
- Conservation and improvement of natural systems, including biodiversity enrichment
- Innovative ideas and technology for research, trial or development that improves responses to changes in the climate or environment
- Practical and implementable outcomes for the City of Darwin
- Alignment with and understanding of City of Darwin’s Strategic Plan and Climate Emergency Response.
Applicants must have an ABN and individuals need to be auspiced by an organisation with an ABN.
Applications are now open and close on Wednesday 30, June 2021.
