New Clyde North Ambulance Station Opens Its Doors

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government has delivered a new world class ambulance station in Clyde North, supporting the hardworking paramedics to continue delivering world-class emergency care and saving lives across the community.

The new 24-hour facility features a four-bay garage for ambulances, four rest and recline areas for paramedics to recuperate, training facilities, a fully equipped kitchen, car parking and updated security to enhance paramedic safety.

Located on Matterhorn Drive, the site was carefully selected for its proximity to main roads and major sites in the area including nature parks, manufacturing precincts and community facilities – ensuring the best coverage of ambulance services for the community.

It is just one of more than 35 new or upgraded ambulance stations delivered since 2015 – providing paramedics the safe and modern home-base they need to deliver critical care to local communities, with construction on another 16 currently underway.

Since coming to Government, a total of more than $2 billion has been invested in ambulance services, doubling the on-road workforce with 2,200 more paramedics delivering lifesaving care to Victorians.

Additionally, all 2022 election commitments made to the Victorian people have been funded in the most recent budget, including to employ and train 40 new Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance employees.

The Labor Government is also delivering Australia’s first Paramedic Practitioners with a master’s course at Monash University from 2024, with the first 25 paramedic practitioners trained and on the road by 2026.

A new Centre for Excellence in Paramedicine at Victoria University is also being established to train the next generation of paramedics, providing advanced teaching methods – with a capacity to train around 1,500 students each year.
