The Victorian Government has welcomed a new coroner with the appointment of Dimitra Dubrow.
Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes today congratulated Ms Dubrow on her appointment to the Coroners Court of Victoria.
Ms Dubrow is a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Personal Injuries Specialist and has served on several committees, including as Chair of the Law Institute’s Public Liability and Medical Negligence Committee from 2014 to 2018.
She was admitted to practice in 1998 and has more than 25 years of legal experience, including at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers where she specialised in medical negligence law and coronial investigations.
She has been the National Head of the Medical Negligence practice at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers since 2018 and led the national Dust Diseases practice encompassing asbestos and silica related disease from 2019 to 2024.
Ms Dubrow has worked to increase access and make improvements to the law and legal processes and improve patient outcomes in the health care system.
Ms Dubrow holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Monash University.
Ms Dubrow’s appointment comes after the departure of Katherine Lorenz who was appointed as a judicial registrar to the Supreme Court of Victoria.
