Southern Cross University’s Gold Coast campuses will remain closed until 8am Monday August 9.
It follows the Queensland government decision to extend the current lockdown across 11 Local Government Areas in the southeast – including Brisbane and the Gold Coast – for an additional five days (until 4pm Sunday August 8) because of new COVID cases.
During the lockdown access to the University’s Gold Coast campuses remains restricted.
All buildings are locked to student and staff card access. The only people allowed on the Bilinga and Coomera campuses are security guards.

Meanwhile, the NSW government has advised that anyone now in NSW who has visited southeast Queensland recently is under a ‘stay at home’ order. This applies to anyone who has been to any of the affected 11 Local Government Areas since 21 July and has returned to NSW. A person must comply with the ‘stay at home’ rules for 14 days since they were last in an affected LGA, or until the notice is revoked.
