New December Round Offers For Victorian VCE Students

  • Minister for Higher Education
  • Minister for Training and Skills

For the first time Victorian VCE students will receive a university or TAFE offer today to help provide them with answers around their future studies before the Christmas and New Year period.

As part of this new December round offer, more than 36,000 offers will today be made to students for undergraduate and vocational courses. This includes more than 33,000 university offers and more than 2,700 TAFE and vocational course offers.

The new offer round means that many VCE graduates are receiving an offer today, less than a week after receiving their ATAR and VCE results on Thursday 12 December.

Year 12 results in each state are released on different dates, so only Year 12 students from Victoria and Queensland are included in the December round for 2019. Year 12 students from other states, those studying the International Baccalaureate (IB), and mature age applicants will receive their offers in January as in previous years.

Minister for Training and Skills and Higher Education Gayle Tierney today congratulated all students who received an offer, and noted there were plenty of options to consider.

Students who did not receive an offer will have all of their course preferences reconsidered in further VTAC offer rounds throughout January and February. They also have the option to change their preferences to add, remove, or rearrange courses between all offer rounds.

Students are also encouraged to apply for one of Free TAFE and apprenticeship pathway courses offered in 2020, including the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, which are new to the Free TAFE course list next year.

Free TAFE reduces the financial barrier for eligible students wanting to train in the courses that lead to the jobs that are most in demand from Victorian employers.

TAFE institutes, including universities that offer TAFE courses, are taking enrolments for Free TAFE courses.
