New director for Tasracing

I am pleased to advise that Mr Neil Grose has been appointed to the Tasracing Board.

Mr Grose brings extensive and relevant experience to Tasracing’s board as its harness code representative.

Mr Grose is a regular racegoer and has a strong interest in the future of harness racing.

He is an experienced and well-credentialled business professional, with a strong background in private enterprise, having owned various successful tourism and publishing businesses.

He has also worked across a diverse range of sectors including local government, manufacturing, the primary industry sector, retail and professional services.

Mr Grose is the past Chair of the Community and Business Advisory Group for the Launceston City Deal, a former Board member of North East Care, a past director of the Comalco Employees Provident Fund and is the current president of the Launceston Tornadoes Basketball Club.

I am also pleased to announce Gene Phair’s reappointment as Chairperson of the Tasracing Board. Mr Phair was first appointed in November 2018.

Mr Grose fills the vacant board position created by the retirement of Joel Wallace, who joined the board in December 2015. He is a former president of the Launceston Pacing Club and Tasracing’s representative on the Board of Harness Racing Australia and RISE Ltd.

I want to sincerely thank Mr Wallace for his six years of service to the Tasracing Board, and his active involvement with harness racing in Tasmania.
