Residents can now enjoy two-hour parking in Werribee City Centre following the removal of the one-hour limit in most parts of the city centre from the 28th November.
As part of the rollout of the Werribee City Centre Parking Strategy 2019, people who shop, socialise and work in the city centre will be given extra time to enjoy the city centre.
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Mia Shaw said it was important to give customers more time to spend at the City Centre’s 526 businesses.
“Business owners told us that customers wanted more time to visit the shops, cafes and visit the broad range of services on offer right here in the City Centre.”
“There are also many social benefits for visitors, for example enjoying longer lunches at the variety of the City Centre’s vibrant cafes and restaurants and not having to rush back to their car if meeting a friend in the street.”
“Before this Strategy was developed, we listened to the needs of the community and many people felt the hour-parking in the City Centre was too restrictive, so we made this extension to the time limit a priority.”
“The only place within the City Centre that will still have one-hour parking is Station Place and that is to make sure more people have the opportunity to park there for a short time while dropping their family off at the train station.”
“We have already established drop-off and pick-up zones for rail commuters on Comben Drive to avoid residents conducting prohibited drop-offs on Station Place.”
“The duration of the time limits in the City Centre will be simplified and made uniform, so all parking enforcement officers will be patrolling between 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday and from 9am to 3pm on Saturdays.
