The new facility, which is being funded through the Palaszczuk Government’s School Halls Program, delivers on a 2020 election commitment. It features equitable access facilities including two court areas, a performance stage, kinesiology lab/gym and theory room, three learning areas, amenities and other functional facilities. The Palaszczuk Government is investing $259 million over the next three years through the School Halls Program on 18 new projects, ranging from new halls to extensions of existing halls and new covered areas at selected state schools.

While on the Gold Coast, Minister Grace also opened Mudgeeraba Special School’s new $15 million learning centre.

The new two-storey learning centre features 13 learning spaces; a multi-purpose skills area; an outdoor learning space; a life skills kitchen; a laundry; a staff room; amenities; two lifts; an outdoor play area and associated carparking.

The school has a vibrant vocational and education training program and a Trade Training Centre in Horticulture, helping students develop skills for future employment pathways, delivering four Certificate Courses.

Since 2015 the Palaszczuk Government has invested more than $12 billion on state school infrastructure, including $2.1 billion in 2023-24.
