New Government’s first Country Cabinet heads to Mount Gambier

The Malinauskas Labor Government’s first Country Cabinet will be held in Mount Gambier today and tomorrow, as part of the new government’s commitment to regional South Australia.

The government is investing more than $130 million in the Limestone Coast, including:

  • $52.5 million in the south-east health system
  • $39 million in a new technical college in Mount Gambier
  • $19 million in growing the state’s forestry industry

The government is also investing in the local lobster and livestock industries, establishing a Cross Border Commissioner and upgrading local roads.

Today the Premier will visit local forestry sites and meet with local business leaders.

This evening, the Cabinet will host a community barbecue and forum, giving locals an opportunity to speak directly with Cabinet Ministers.

Tomorrow, there will be a formal Cabinet meeting and the Premier will visit the Mount Gambier TAFE and meet with more local businesses.

Country Cabinets were held by the former Labor Government but scrapped by the Marshall Liberal Government when it came to office.
