An important tool that helps keeps the City of Logan community safe during disasters and emergencies has been given an important facelift.
Logan City Council’s online Disaster Dashboard has been redesigned to incorporate feedback following a Have Your Say survey earlier this year.
Logan Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) Chair, Mayor Darren Power, said Council was able to make the platform more user-friendly.
“The key focus of the LDMG at all times is to preserve life and property, and everyone plays a role in being prepared before a disaster happens,” Councillor Power said.
“This new-look Disaster Dashboard helps residents and businesses access the information they want, when they want it.”
Cr Power said the LDMG was always prepared to manage natural disasters and emergency events in Logan.
“August is traditionally the start of bushfire season, so we are working closely with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to help our community think about things like ‘would you leave or stay if a bushfire was nearby?’,” he said.
“We then head into the summer wet season when storms and floods are a possibility.
“The Disaster Dashboard is well-used during flood events, especially as people view the local creek cameras to see in real time which parts of the city are impacted.
“However, the Dashboard is a resource that should be used year-round and not just during a bushfire or flood.
“I encourage people to bookmark it on their computer or other device such as a smartphone or tablet and refer to it regularly – it could just save your life, or someone you love.”
